Sour Cream Donuts

  • 2-1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1-1/2 tsps. baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg or apple pie spice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsps. soft butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

In a bowl, mix together the flour, powder, salt and spice.

In a mixer bowl, mix the butter and sugar until sandy looking.  Add the yolks and blend well.

Add the flour and sour cream, alternating.  Dough is a bit sticky

Wrap in plastic and refrigerate about 1 hour.

Remove and roll about 1/2″ thick.  Cut into donut shapes

Fry at 325 about 1 minute per side.

Glaze

  • 3-1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup warm water

Blend well and drizzle on donuts.
