Banana Pound Cake


  • 3-1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp finely grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

Mix altogether and set aside.

  • 2 sticks soft butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup (1 nip) banana liquor
  • 1 bananas mashed

Grease and flour a 10″ 8 cup bundt or tube pan.

Mash the bananas with the liqueur.

Beat butter about 1 minute and gradually add sugar and beat 2 minutes.

Add eggs, beating well after each.

Add half the flour, then all of the mashed banana mixture and then the rest of the flour.  Blend well 2-3 minutes.

Spread mix into prepared pan.

Bake at 350 in lower third of the oven for about 70-80 minutes.

Cool in pan 30 minutes then turn out onto wire rack and cool completely.


  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pure banana extract
  • 2-3 tbsps. milk

Whisk together well and drizzle over cake.
